We travel to Portsmouth / Plymouth boarding the overnight Brittany Ferry to Santander. On board you can enjoy award winning service and top-class facilities including restaurants, stylish lounges and comfortable cabins (meals not included).
We disembark On arrival in Santander, there is a little free time to explore this picturesque coastal resort before we travel to the Medieval city of Burgos. From here we continue to Palencia for an overnight stay at the Europa Centro Hotel.
Today we travel though the Portuguese countryside to the seaside resort of Figueira da Foz, the city at the mouth of the Mondego River with extensive beaches of soft white sand which invite for a relaxing holiday. Discover a unique blend between a real fishing port and the cosmopolitanism inherited from the Belle Époque era.
Enjoy a guided coach tour of the historic town of Porto, Portugal’s second city, with its beautiful buildings and atmospheric squares. We then visit Cais de Gaia for lunch; Gaia’s Wharf is nowadays transformed in a pleasant tourist area, endowed with wonderful esplanades, restaurants and bars, with a great view over the Porto’s historic centre. This afternoon we visit a port wine estate and learn the process of producing Port whilst enjoying a sample or two!
Full day tour to Lisbon, Portugal’s hilly, coastal capital city. Enjoy a coach tour of this fabulous city with a guide. Lisbon city perfectly reflects the Portuguese culture, which embraces modern culture whilst maintaining its unique heritage and traditions. Lisbon is constantly recognised as one of the greatest cities in the world, a claim confirmed by the “Lonely Planet Guides”, which named Lisbon as one of the top 10 cities in the world to visit.
Today we visit Coimbra and enjoy a guided city tour by coach and on foot. Coimbra was the medieval capital of Portugal for over a hundred years, and is the site of the country’s greatest university for the past five centuries, Coimbra wears its weighty importance in Portuguese history with dignity. Its atmospheric, beautiful historic core cascades down a hillside in a lovely setting on the east bank of the Rio Mondego: it’s a multi-coloured collage of buildings spanning nearly a millennium.

It’s time to leave Portugal and return to Palencia in Spain for our overnight stay.
Spend a relaxing morning in the hotel before travelling to Santander to board the ferry for your return overnight trip back to the UK (meals not included).
We arrive in the UK and complete our journey home.
While we have carefully planned our programme to be as relaxing and informative as possible the tour does require a certain level of physical ability in order to walk reasonable distances, sometimes over uneven ground. Electric scooters and or wheelchairs would also not be suitable for this tour.
