Day 1
Travel to Brighton.
Day 2
A day at leisure. Brighton and Hove have everything you could want - a royal palace, elegant Regency architecture, museums, laid-back beach life and superb shopping. The Royal Pavilion, home of King George IV, is probably the most exotic, extravagant royal palace in Europe. Stroll along the Victorian Pier and the beach front, where stylish bars and cafés spill out onto the curved paving. For shopping, try the Lanes, smart and chic, and the Bohemian North Lane, both good for antiques and designer clothes.
Day 3
Situated high above the valley of the River Ouse, the little Saxon town of Lewes boasts one of the best preserved castle Barbican’s in England. We include a flight on the British Airways i360, gliding up to 450ft in a fully enclosed glass viewing pod, where visitors can admire views across Brighton and the south coast.
Day 4
Today we travel to Sheffield Park Station to board the Bluebell Line steam train. The Bluebell Railway was the first preserved standard gauge passenger line in the world, everything here has a wonderfully genuine feel of the past, from the period carriages to the splendid stations decked out with nostalgic advertisements.
We also enjoy a visit to the magnificent Sheffield Park Gardens, laid out in the 18th century by 'Capability' Brown.
